&SPIRITS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kuroda Ai) will be holding a collaboration event with the Japan Rum Association, an organization established with the aim of increasing the number of rum enthusiasts in Japan through various activities that connect consumers with rum, from Friday, November 1st to Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at &SPIRITS, one of the largest distilled spirits specialty stores in Tokyo.

Rum is a distilled alcoholic drink made from sugar cane and is produced on every continent except Antarctica. There are over 40,000 brands in the world, and it has continued to evolve over the last 400 years, influenced by the flow of history.

Rum is often associated with summer, including classic cocktails like the mojito and pina colada, but it is also a versatile spirit with great potential for autumn and winter.
Following on from last year, this year's event is based on the concept of "Rum even in autumn♪" and we have prepared cocktails and pairing menus that are perfect for this time of year, in the hope that many people will experience the fun and great potential of rum.

■ Talk session event and cocktail making with the president and director of the Japan Rum Society
We invited Shinobu Ebisawa, the president of the Japan Rum Association and owner and bartender of "SCREW DRIVER," which boasts the largest lineup of rums in Japan, with over 600 varieties on offer at all times, and Hiroki Sato, the owner and bartender of "BAR Julep," a bar specializing in rum and cachaça, and a director of the Japan Rum Association, to join us."Talk Session Event on Rum in Japan and the World"will be held on Thursday, November 14th.

Also, on the day, we will be serving two types of cocktails each using the long-established Barbados rums "Foursquare Dolly's" and "Ron Barcelo." Please look forward to these too!

Known as a pioneer of rum in Japan, his own bar "SCREW DRIVER" opened in 1997 has more than 600 types of rum on tap, the largest lineup in the country. In search of new rums, he visits distilleries around the world, and owns over 7,000 bottles of vintage rum in his personal collection. In 2008, he founded the Japan Rum Association to promote rum in Japan. He is known as a leading figure in OUTSIDEBAR, hosting events at festivals, beaches, camping events, and more.

In 2002, he opened "BAR Julep", a bar specializing in rum and cachaça. He has visited about 30 rum distilleries, mainly in the Caribbean and Central America, and has been involved in as many rum-related cultures as possible, expressing rum from multiple angles. He continues to promote rum.

■ Cocktail performance by guest bartenders

Bar time on Tuesday, November 26th (18:00~23:00)On the day of the event, two up-and-coming guest bartenders, who are certified rum concierges, will be presenting a special rum cocktail for that day only. There will also be a secret cocktail available until the day of the event, so please look forward to it!

● "Bar Prima" Fuuta Horiguchi × Worthy Park

"WORTHY PARK"Founded in 1670, it began producing rum in the 19th century, but stopped producing in 1962. In 2004, a new distillery was rebuilt and rum distillation resumed for the first time in 40 years. As "Jamaica's oldest distillery" and "Jamaican innovator," it has returned to being a global rum brand as Jamaica's only single estate rum in just under 15 years.

Guest bartender Horiguchi will be serving two special cocktails using "Worthy Park 109," a spirit aged in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at US proof 109, and "Worthy Park Rum Bar White," the first standard product created in 2007 after the Worthy Park Distillery reopened.

● "Changing moods" Maito Furuguchi x Royal Centenario

"Royal Centenario" is a Costa Rican rum aged in Scotch whisky barrels. It is aged in white American oak barrels that were used in the four most representative Scotch whisky regions: Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and Islay. This unique aging method gives it a special flavor and individuality.

Guest bartender Furuguchi will be serving two special cocktails made with "Royal Centenario 12 Year," a 50/50 blend of rum aged for over 12 years in American white oak barrels from the Highland and Lowland regions, and "Royal Centenario Cafe," a premium coffee liqueur made by extracting coffee beans from Costa Rica, a famous coffee producing country, and blending it with Royal Centenario 7 Year Rum.
